Dice de sí misma que se siente una artesana industrial. Por un lado, porque gran parte de su trabajo lo realiza artesanalmente. Por otro, porque al mismo tiempo trabaja como diseñadora industrial. Durante diez años trabajó en Nueva York como diseñadora, artista y docente en la Parsons School of Design. En 2002 aterrizó en Madrid, en cuyo barrio de Malasaña tiene hoy un multiespacio que funciona simultáneamente como galería, tienda y taller. Mientras que por un lado Marre Moerel ha diseñado piezas de mobiliario para marcas como la sueca Offecct o la española Celda, por otro en su tienda-taller de Madrid elabora y comercializa ella misma sus productos cerámicos. En este ámbito, formas muy recurrentes en sus piezas proceden de terceros objetos, algunos de ellos cotidianos, otros encontrados fortuitamente.
Marre Moerel says that she feels she is an “industrial crafter”, first because so much of her work is done by hand and second because she works as an industrial designer at the same time. She spent a decade in New York working as a designer, artist and lecturer at the Parsons School of Design. In 2002, she landed in Madrid, where she opened a multi-space that simultaneously functions as a gallery, shop and atelier in the Malasaña district. While Moerel has designed pieces of furniture for brands such as the Swedish Offecct or Spanish Celda, much of her work is related to a completely artisanal process; she makes most of her pieces in her shop-atelier in Madrid and markets them herself as well. In this field, highly recurring forms in the pieces come from third-party objects; some of them everyday, others found by chance.
